Our lives will never
be the quite the same without them here with us.
However, we can learn positive ways to keep loving them where they
are.
When we work with our pain and heal the grief of our loss,
we can allow joy to come flowing back into our lives.
We can become even more of who we are because we loved .
We can create a new meaning to our existence through this
journey…

Death and loss are part
of being human.
Some deaths are expected while others are unexpected.
Some deaths are beautiful and others are tragic.
Death is something that we must experience,
however, we do not have to suffer endlessly from it.
We do have a choice in determining how death is going to change
us.
We have the choice to allow death to be a teacher or a
destroyer.
A positive outcome for all the significant deaths in our lives
occurs when we are able to move from that place of paralyzing shock
and sadness into a place of acceptance. We can also achieve a
beautiful remembrance and peace.
For most people this journey begins with a goodbye ceremony that
usually comes in the form of a memorial service, funeral service,
scattering ashes burial at sea, celebration of life or other
remembrance ceremony. All styles of these ceremonies exist to help
us accept the death as real and to emotionally release our loved
one from this physical life. The goodbye ceremony can also serve as
the starting point for expressing our grief.
A goodbye ceremony can be a small or large experience.
It can be formal or casual.
It can happen within a family or public group setting.
It can be accomplished alone.
The most important
feature in the goodbye ceremony is that somewhere within it there
is a place of meaningful connection to you.
A meaningful goodbye or remembrance ceremony can assist greatly to
help us in accepting the death and can be a constructive beginning
to the grief process that follows. It is the place to mourn.
Mourning is essential and a healthy expression of our grief.
After the goodbye ceremony begins the next phase of bereavement.
This period requires time and space to continue healing the many
complex emotions.
Every minute that we
give our attention to constructively expressing our emotions is
focused time that we are working towards healing our
grief.
Death is an end,
however, it is also a beginning. From this death let yourself
discover how intensely you can love and feel. Let this grieving
time be a sacred passage into the depths of yourself. Let this loss
become a gain in understanding and compassion for yourself and
others.
Let yourself find new ways to connect and share your life with your
loved one.
Let yourself find new ways to connect and share your life with
others.
Take the love that you know is possible and transform it into a
passion for something beautifully new.
When we work with our pain and heal the grief of our loss,
we can allow joy to come flowing back into our lives.
We can create a new
meaning to our existence through this
journey.![]()
